Richard Akers is Managing Director, Retail at Land Securities, the UK's largest quoted property company, and was appointed to the Board in May 2005.

The company has a £9bn portfolio covering London Retail and Offices, Shopping Centres and Retail Parks.  Award winning development schemes opening in the past 3 years include:  Cardinal Place in Victoria, Princesshay in Exeter, Cabot Circus in Bristol and New Street Square in Mid Town.  St David's 2 in Cardiff has recently been launched and One New Change in the City is under construction and due for completion in Autumn 2010.

Prior to becoming Managing Director, Retail, Richard headed up the shopping centre portfolio and has also worked in the development team during his 15 years with the company. 

Richard holds a degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1990.
